Entitled “VOID,” the multisensory installation promises people a way to view gemstones in an interesting way like never before. Created especially for the London Design Festival 2019 Gemfields’ project will showcase large-scale projections of a selection of Mozambican rubies, Zambian emeralds and other semiprecious gems. All of them are brought to life through photography of tiny microcosms magnified to become abstract, galaxy-like structures.
By translating moving image into a contained physical form and scoring the experience with harmonised layers of the human voice – by female drone choir NYX – visitors are invited to enter within the portrait of a gemstone’s natural inclusions and take a look inside gemstones.
The exhibition will be held at the Collins Music Hall in London, Sept. 14–22.
